Mgt-Class 5: Performance Appraisals: Painful or Productive?

The program engages participants who have responsibility to prepare, write and deliver appraisals in a discussion aimed at understanding why performance appraisals can be such a painful process and will introduce them to strategies that can overcome the traditional barriers to effective performance appraisals including: managing performance throughout the year, preparation, use of a self-appraisal, effective phraseology and writing skills, and the effective delivery of the appraisal. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice these new skills by organizing, writing and delivering a performance appraisal. The feedback participants receive from their peers in this exercise has proven highly valuable.
